Maras, Moray, Chinchero tour – Half day

The sacred valley as its name suggest was a region with important places like residential areas, fortresses, farming areas with so many different products like potatoes, quinoa, a big variety of corn and many others so it means the Incas had to build different group of storehouses, and this time we have the opportunity to visit one of them “Machu Qolqa” which means “old storage” see the big group of storages built in a strategical spot to conserve a fresh product. Another important place part of the sacred valley is Moray and ancient agricultural laboratory; experts believe that the group of terraces perfectly designed served as farming laboratory where according scholars the different levels are providing different growing environments due to the varying temperatures. On the way going to the salt pans of Maras we will pass through Maras town very well known for its colonial doorways. Once in the Salt pans is possible to see quechua-speaking locals harvesting salt with the same centuries-old methods that have been used since pre-Inca times.

1/2 DayMoray - Salt mines - Machuqolqa - Chinchero

We will pick you up from your hotel at 8 am. then Just a 30 min. driving from Cusco, we reach to Chinchero view point, where you will see a large group of mountains with some glaciers, and the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Then we go to Moray a complex system of terraces, according experts these served as a farming laboratory which involve different temperatures and soil providing different growing environments, so your guide will take you back to the Incas time teaching you about this fascinating place. Then we go to visit one of the most important places located in sacred valley, Salt mines where we will find a big group of white pools where locals still using the same methods that have been using since remote times. Continuing with our tour we drive until Machuqolqa where we find a big group of storehouses located in a strategical spot where the Incas took advantage of the natural conditions like location, fresh airflow, etc. to keep fresh whole the products they could get from the area and different places too. As last place to visit still Chinchero where Locals still living as back in the years with typical suits. Chinchero also is known for the Complex group of Inca terraces and ceremonial places. Finally, time to go back to home. Around 1 pm we stay again in Cusco and we will take you to your hotel or plaza.

  • 7-10 people: US$ 240.00 total.

Important info - BTG / BOLETO TURISTICO -TOURIST TICKET

You have the Option to Purchase a 1 Day or a 10 Day Boleto Turistico.

  • The partial ticket or 1-day ticket: costs 70 soles (US$22) and is valid for 1 day. You can visit many sites as you like in one day with no further charge; there are no discounts with this ticket.
  • The general ticket: costs 130 soles (US$43) and is valid for 10 days, allows you over the next 10 days to enter to 14 cultural and archeological sites in Cusco, the sacred valley and south valley.
  • The cost for students under 25 (with the presentation of a valid ISIC card) and for teenagers under 18 (with the presentation of an identity card) is 70 soles (US $20). Children under 11 are free.
  • The tickets for Saqsayhuaman, Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Moray, etc. Cannot be sold individually, you must buy the Boleto Turistico, and you must pay in soles, no credit cards or US dollars are accepted.
